Robert Sills is an attorney and public policy advisor with a proven track record of navigating complex legal, regulatory, and political landscapes.

Robert began his career as Policy Director and Counsel for the Georgia House Democratic Caucus, under the leadership of Minority Leader Stacey Abrams, where he managed and oversaw the development of the caucus’ legislative agenda. In that role, he was fortunate to play key roles in helping to secure the passage of legislation that ended Georgia’s backlog of untested sexual assault DNA kits, expanded employment opportunities for Georgia’s military families, and preserve early voting access.

Following his time with the legislature, Robert worked as a public policy attorney at Dentons US LLP, where he represented the HateFreeGA coalition in successfully advocating for the passage of Georgia’s first comprehensive hate crimes law. Later, he worked as a corporate counsel at Amazon, where he helped form the first in-house legal team to address misinformation, hate speech, and extremist content online before departing to direct state and local government affairs at a national civil rights organization prior to founding Open River Strategies in 2024. He is known for crafting innovative, actionable solutions for nonprofits, startups, campaigns, and mission-driven organizations working to make lasting social impact.

He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and Emory University School of Law. Despite being a Chicago Cubs season ticket holder, Robert lives with his family in Atlanta, Georgia.
